With the vision to enter China early, before the Chinese pharmaceutical distribution industry was open to direct foreign investment, Zuellig Pharma China has been able to build a formidable reputation for the highest standards in modern pharmaceutical distribution. We offer an unparalleled range of distribution and supply channel management services that cover the entire supply chain from logistics services to distribution through an extensive wholesaler network, and through our own direct distribution operations in five of China's major markets. We actively serve the hospital, retail pharmacy, modern trade and vaccine distribution channels handling and distributing prescription and non-prescription pharmaceuticals, over the counter medications, medical devices, diagnostics, dermocosmetics, health supplements and nutritional products. This depth and breadth allows us to tailor our solutions for any situation, providing the most effective and efficient distribution and supply chain management services in China.
Our distribution network covers all provinces, over 400 cities, 3,200 wholesalers, 17,000 hospitals, and 85,000 retail pharmacies. We directly distribute to hospitals and retail pharmacies in several major markets, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Wuhan, and Chongqing.

Our large and experienced QA team oversees all aspects of our logistics operations and we are noted specialists in the handling of products requiring special care, including narcotics, high-value products, biological products, or those needing particular freezer or refrigeration conditions. Zuellig Pharma China's logistics operation has achieved both Chinese GSP and ISO9001:2000 certification, recognizing our commitment to the highest standards of logistics operations.

Past and future
Zuellig Pharma China started operations in Shanghai in 1993 offering distribution management for imported pharmaceuticals. Satellite offices were quickly established in Guangzhou and Beijing to cover China's major pharmaceutical markets. Zuellig Pharma's first investment in China was in 1995, with the establishment in Shanghai of Zuellig Pharma (Shanghai) Pharmaceutical Service Company. This serves as the headquarters for Zuellig Pharma in China. In 1997 Zuellig Pharma established the first foreign-invested pharmaceutical logistics operation in the Wai Gao Qiao bonded zone in Pudong, Shanghai. Both these companies allowed Zuellig Pharma China to engage in a limited level of distribution services in China and prepare for the opening of the domestic distribution industry to foreign investment.
When China joined the WTO in 2001, the country committed gradually and in a limited way to opening its pharmaceutical distribution industry beginning in December 2004. Despite this timeline, in May 2003 Zuellig Pharma was granted the first foreign-invested pharmaceutical distribution license by the Ministry of Commerce and State Food and Drug Administration and became the first foreign investor in China to legally distribute pharmaceuticals, capping 10 years of development in China.
Since then Zuellig Pharma China¡¦s business has developed rapidly. Over the past several years, we have completed additional acquisitions of direct distribution companies in Shanghai, Shenyang, Wuhan, and Chongqing, allowing Zuellig Pharma China to reach hospital and retail pharmacy customers in one distribution step, from manufacturer to Zuellig Pharma China to customer. We have developed additional distribution channels, including retail pharmacy, medical device, and vaccines, and extended our logistics services to become a noted and reputable cold chain and clinical trial management logistics partner.
